this weekend
October 31st, 2009
Conner and Tyler will assume the roles of Batman and Robin. Despite the rain we’re going to a neighborhood party and plan to go trick or treating this evening. Topping it all off tomorrow with a Pete Yorn concert. One of my favorites. Hope you eat lots of candy and have a Happy Halloweens!

Rebecca and Dave are from Australia. They married about 4 years ago under somewhat strenuous circumstances. Rebecca’s mother grew ill so they quickly put a ceremony together so she could be there to see them marry. She passed away only a few weeks after.
They have visited New York City many times but this visit was a little different. Rebecca decided it was time to document their union in a place that’s very special to them. She found me online and felt a connection since I have lost my mother as well. After following my blog for about a year, she emailed me, told me her story and hired me to spend the day with them, touring the city while taking their portraits.
Immediately I felt very comfortable with Dave and Rebecca. Throughout our afternoon I learned quite a bit about the two. They are very warm and low-key. I loved that Rebecca made her bouquet at Whole Foods. They travel often, have a very cute dog named Stella and love Coke a Cola.
Our afternoon ended with getting lost in Central Park. They were happy to see unexplored areas of the park, or so they said. I could have photographed them all day just to listen to their gorgeous accents, lost or found.

fall mini shoots, downtown and central park, nyc
October 23rd, 2009
I hold my mini shoots twice a year. This fall the day was fully booked in less than 3 days. They went like hotcakes! I even added a few more spots to accommodate people in these “cautious” times. They are a great way to get a holiday card photo plus a few shots for gifts for the grandparents, all for less than half the cost of a full shoot. Thank you for everyone who participated. It was a great day.

The Steck children always make me laugh. They are very entertaining. I love the dialog that takes place when I’m there shooting. At one point Dylan told Hallie he was going to grab her boobs – I died laughing. We started the shoot at the apartment and then headed to Madison Square Park where one of the famous Shake Shacks is located. Once the kids realized ice cream and fries were on the horizon they pretty much lost interest in our shoot. Understandably so.
How cool is this bedroom? A friend of mine from my pre-photographer job, is the brain behind the interior design. Beautiful. She doesn’t have a website yet but if you would like her contact information just let me know.

October 15th, 2009
Allyson and Brian were married secretly at City Hall the day before we took these photos. They unveiled their surprise marriage to their friends and family over a beautiful dinner at Bouley. They decided they wanted it to be just the two of them, no stress, no fuss – a simple “I do.” We spent the afternoon downtown in Tribeca documenting them as husband and wife, the new Mr. and Mrs. Liu. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. I was honored to part of your special day. Best of luck to you two.

Abigail’s parents are friends of friends. I hadn’t seen them in quite awhile but had heard many wonderful things, especially about how cute Abigail is. She looks just like her mom and has an adorable little personality. She made my job very easy. Thank you Erin, Joe and Abigail for a great shoot in the park. It was so nice to catch up!

October 8th, 2009
We are headed to Vermont to stay the resort (The Equinox) where we got married, SOLO. Just me and Bren. No kids. No crying. No screaming. Three days of quiet rest and relaxation.
It’s all about sleeping for more than 5 hours straight, room service, reading the paper and drinking my coffee in bed, fall foliage, visiting my favorite bookstore, not checking email, having breakfast at the best little VT comfort food cafe – Up For Breakfast, spa appointments, working out, steak dinner, good wine and some QT with my husband. I – Can – Not – Wait.
See you next week.

Mike and I went to high school together. I hadn’t seen him in many years and was totally surprised to hear his voice on the other end of the phone when he called me to book his shoot. He has two adorable boys. A parent to two boys, oh how I can relate. We decided to meet at Phelps park, not far from where we went to high school. Phelps was a place where we all often killed time back in the day. If you had told me in 1994 that in 15 years I would be photographing high school friends and their families at Phelps, I would never of believed you. Funny how things turn out. Thank you Reynolds fam. for allowing me to document a little of your love. It was an honor.

miss allegra, new york, ny
October 7th, 2009
Miss Allegra was born about two months ago. These were taken right as she was turning one month for her newborn mini shoot. I was very excited to meet her, especially because her sister Natalia is one of my favorite subjects. She makes quite a few appearances on my website and is even in my blog header. Just look for the gorgeous little girl with red curls. Now we will have to make room for her adorable little sister. Welcome Allegra.
