These two families met through their Hamptons share house many summers ago. Since, they have bought a house in Quogue together. They have 2 beautiful daughters who just love each other. I thought it was very cool, Chloe called me to do a shoot of the families together. You could tell they were close friends, there was a lot of joking around and making fun. Thank you for inviting me to document a morning of your friendship.

I dont really know where to begin when I think of Jennifer and her beautiful family. She is one of my closest and dearest clients who has become a close and dear friend. As I’ve stated here many times before, she has not only been very loyal but has helped me build my business by referring me to many of her friends. She always looks out for me and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for that. I feel very lucky to have met her, not only from a business stand point, but much more importantly from a personal stand point. This summer we got together out east, had a great dinner and got to know each other even better. It was my first night away from the boys, which I really needed. As always, thank you Jennifer for your generosity.
So, for our shoot this year, we met on Sagg Main Beach. Austin had several ideas for our photos, one of which was to climb the dunes. Good eye Austin. We played as the sun set behind us. There is something about that hour from 6-7 when the sun sets on the beach and all seems perfect in the world. We caught the magic hour and magic did happen. All was perfect.

run your heart out
September 25th, 2009
So as most you know, I’m running again. I’ve had a couple song requests after my post about I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas, SO I made an IMix for those of you who are interested. A mix of old, new, cheesy, cool, pop, rock, rap, all of which get me goin’. If you click on the name of the mix you should be taken to the mix in ITunes, where you can by the songs. Kinda cool huh?
And before you go, I just have to express my fascination with Jay-Z. I like alot of Rap but Jay-Z is a favorite. My new obsession is his Empire State, #16 on the mix. He was a guest on Oprah yesterday and his story is amazing. From selling crack at the age of 13 to building his empire, RocNation – incredible. We’ve been listening to his music since college and it never gets old and keeps you young. In my next life I want to come back as Jay-Z.

I can’t express how amazing this pair, Dylan and his mom, are together. My eyes filled with tears behind my lens many times as I photographed these two this summer. This was our 4th shoot. I met Dylan when he was just two. I remember he had little interest in taking photos and oh how things have changed. Their connection sends chills down my spine. The way they look at each other gives me the goose bumps. Shoots like this make my heart swell and remind me again why I love what I do. Thank you Dylan and Emily.

The OMalleys are a beautiful family of 5, which I have a great deal of appreciation for after expanding my own family to 4. I admire them for bringing 3 children into this world. It’s not easy, although they make it look as though it is. They always come to me with a couple ideas before our shoot. This year it was underwater photos, which we decided the kids were too young for (soon!). Another idea was to fly a couple kites at the beach. Of course on the day of our shoot there wasn’t an ounce of wind, so that idea was quickly put to rest as well. It looks as though all we needed was a boogie board and some solid playtime around their pool. Needless to say, it was a wonderful morning. Thank you OMalleys.

Ellis (love his name) was very welcoming when I arrived for our shoot. He slid his hand in mine and quickly took me to see his vegetable garden. So sweet and what a beautiful mini version he is of his mother.
Out of the 9 shoots I had out east, only 2 were new clients and the Resnicks were one of them. It was a pleasure to meet you 3. I love the photos with the giant drift wood that washed up on shore. Good find Nirit. Thank you for a beautiful shoot. I hope to see you again next summer.

This was one of the most beautiful evenings I spent on the beach this summer. A gorgeous family and amazing light. That’s all I need for a little magic to happen.
I’m posting my top 8 from the shoot. I think they would look great blown up and mounted under plexi, hung in a grid. Kim I hope you have a big blank wall ; )

This was my first shoot out east. What a great way to start the week. I love Gina’s (mom’s) energy and vibe. A very cool, confident and outgoing lady. I found out during this shoot that Gina and Chris actually dated in high school. I love hearing little bits of history like that. They reunited and got married several years later and well, here they are. A gorgeous family in Sag Harbor, which set my week off on the right foot. Thanks for a great evening. Gina was a little worried we didn’t get any good photos, hopefully these will put her at ease.

This was one of my favorite shoots so far this year, which makes sense because the Hodge family is one of my favorite families. They are so real, warm, fun and relaxed. They rented this adorable house on Lake Mahopac this year, a gorgeous setting that fits them perfectly. Genuine, low key and beautiful. As I started to process these images I laughed out loud at some and got teary eyed from others. I love these photos. Their personalities show through, a happy family who is in love and totally at ease. Thanks Hodge family for welcoming into your home away from home.
