isabella in central park
May 28th, 2009
Isabella was born premature, 3 months premature, weighing in at just over a pound when she was born. It’s hard to imagine, when you meet her you would never know. She is full of energy and life, very happy and healthy. It’s amazing what our hospitals are capable of. I got the chills when her mother told me their history in an email as we were discussing her goals and vision for the shoot. I was excited to learn I was going to be photographing such an important little girl. Thank you for a wonderful shoot.

penelope in tribeca
May 26th, 2009
Hope you all had wonderful holiday weekends. Ours was filled with running errands to prepare for Tyler’s arrival, the Bruce Springsteen show, visiting with my in-laws and a great bbq with some friends yesterday.
Onto a few photos from a recent shoot of Penelope and her mom in Tribeca. Isn’t she beautiful?

kickin’ off the summer with The Boss and Rosie Pope
May 22nd, 2009

Quite the managerie this morning. First off I’m psyched to report Brendan and I will be kicking off our summer tomorrow night with floor seats to see THE BOSS. I mean come on, need I say more? Even though I’m 8 months pregnant nothing is coming in the way of me and Bruce singing a little Born to Run. At this point, there are very few people I will stand for 3 hours, Bruce might be the one and only. Tyler’s is one lucky kid to have his first concert be Bruce Springsteen. And btw do you know he has a teenage son? I mean how cool to think as a teenager your dad is “THE Boss.” I don’t think “children’s photographer” will have the same ring to it.
Moving on to as recent shoot of little James. His mother is Rosie Pope of Rosie Pope Maternity. We recently met and I photographed her adorable James. In return she is going to hang two large black and white photos of mine in her gorgeous Soho store. If you aren’t familiar with her beautiful line of maternity clothes I highly recommend stopping in. This is THE place to shop while prego.

And now James and his lovely grandmother. Luckily she was visiting on the day of our shoot.

christening
May 20th, 2009
So I have 8 more jobs to process and one more job to shoot. We are nearing the end, I think. I’ve started to turn down jobs, which I hate, but in order to take a break at a good point, that’s the reality. If I do this again, I have to plan to give birth in January when things slow down due to the winter weather. What’s the chance of that happening?
These photos are from a recent christening I photographed for George. Look at his seersucker suit. Such a warm and gracious family. They are Greek so the ceremony was very important. Full of beautiful rituals. Thank you Tina and Michael. Enjoy a few of my favorites…

baby buggy’s bedtime bash
May 18th, 2009
One of my dear clients is involved with the wonderful Baby Buggy organization. For those of you who aren’t familiar, Baby Buggy is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing New York City’s families in need with essential equipment, clothing, and products for their infants and young children, founded by Jessica Seinfeld. It’s a great cause all mothers can relate to and can easily donate to as well. Who doesn’t have extra “gear” they would love to share with a family in need?
They are holding their 3rd annual, highly anticipated BEDTIME BASH on June 2nd. I’m dissappointed I wont be able to attend but think I’ll be at the end of my rope come June 2nd, since I’m due June 18th. Next year. If you are interested in buying tickets for your family, simply do so by visiting the Baby Buggy website.
Good luck ladies!

exactly 5 more weeks, but whose counting?
May 14th, 2009
Me obviously. Five more weeks until our little one arrives and I cant wait because I can’t wait to meet him, but also because I’m SOOOOOOO tired of being pregnant. Anyone who says they love being pregnant should check themselves into the looney bin.
I’m tired of being tired, of gaining 5 pounds every 2 weeks, of the forest fire that takes place in my chest every time I drink or eat something other than bread or water, of getting up to pee 2 or 3 times in the middle of the night, of being kicked in the ribs, of wearing my sweats and Brendan’s t-shirts, of shooting while prego (which is not a very graceful act to say the least), of Dr. Seuss characters coming to mind when I see myself naked, of my thighs rubbing together, of my boobs resting on my stomach, of crying while I watched the part of American Idol last night where Kris Allen’s dad got all emotional (what???) and most of all – not being able to satisfy my thirst with the margarita I’ve been craving for the last 6 weeks. My first pregnancy was much more luxurious, filled with bubble baths, burgers and afternoon naps. Not so much this time around.
I know, take advantage of this time, enjoy it while he’s on the inside, blah blah blah. Sometimes I wish I would go into labor right now, even though I still have to-do list about a mile long. Atleast I wouldn’t be pregnant anymore.
In the meantime, here’s a self portrait…

tribeca with the carty family
May 12th, 2009
The Cartys had great energy, were wonderful models and up for anything. We toured their neighborhood which suited their style perfectly. I snapped away. It was an effortless shoot which is when you know the true personality of the family is going to shine through in the photos. Their two boys are so cute. Just look at their shirts. I couldn’t get enough! Thank you Cartys; it was such a pleasure.

I love shooting a happy baby, alone, in the park, during the spring. I could have photographed him all day. He was one happy fella.

lila
May 8th, 2009
This shoot couldn’t be more appropriate to post on a day like today; it has finally stopped raining. The Beals were new clients, referred by another wonderful client of mine – Jennifer (thank you Jen ; ). They wanted to take advantage of a few of the gorgeous trees in Central Park, which I think we did. Lila’s dress was made for the the occasion. It couldn’t have matched more perfectly! Thank you Beals.

book club
May 5th, 2009
As some of you know, I’m in a book club. We recently read Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. Not sure I understand all the hype. I love a challenge and all (500 plus pages!) and dont get me wrong, it was well written and had a very unique plot based on a hemaphrodite (yep!), but I didn’t fall in love with it like all those who stopped me and bragged about how much they loooooovvveed it when they spotted me reading it on the plane, train or in the hair salon. It took me and all the other members quite some time to finish but we did and that’s half the point of the club. My husband was glad when I finally turned the final page because the nights of falling asleep on the couch after reading 10 pages had finally come to an end.

To follow up that not-so-easy-read, next up was The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan. A light, sad and funny memoir about a father and daughter who battle cancer at the same time. I say “light” because anything seems “light” after Middlesex. It was good, not one of my favorites, but very touching and I loved that even though it was about a heavy and sad subject the author kept it somewhat upbeat with her comic relief.

What’s on your list of favorites?
