the decker family in westchester

April 28th, 2009

Karen and I went to high school together and so did our brothers. I have known her and her family for almost 20 years and finally I can tell her twin brothers apart. Karen’s mom even took care of my youngest brother Ben after school for awhile so it’s safe to say, we have some history. I was thrilled to see and photograph them, as well as meet Karen’s daughter Caitlin who they are all madly in love with. I was so impressed by their relaxed attitudes which always makes for great models and an easy shoot. I really did very little posing which is just how I like it.

When we were planning our location the great lawn in front of Readers Digest came to mind. It’s full of daffodils this time of year and we both agreed, this was the spot. We’ve both admired this lawn during the spring for ages and luckily we got a gorgeous day, although a little sunny.

Thank you Decker family. I hope to see you again!

the hickys from oklahoma

April 23rd, 2009

The Hickys are this gorgeous family from Oklahoma. Dad has spent the last year here completing a program at NYU and about every month mom and the girls come up to visit. This month was the last visit, as the NYU program is almost done. Besides their frequent trips up North, Mom has been back in Oklahoma with the two girls, I give her major props. They called me to see if I could photograph them to document their last visit. Mom wanted “real NYC shots” so we went downtown (LES/Nolita area) and I think that’s what we got. We toured the area for a couple hours while snacking on bagels; I dont think it gets any more New York than that. The Hickys had great energy and were exactly what I needed to start off my spring season. I loved documenting the love and connections between the 4 of them.

Thank you Hickys for such a great shoot. I hope to see you again.

on display

April 16th, 2009

My work is now hanging right behind the counter in Marmalade, this adorable home and gift shop in town. I often stop in to pick up a gift for someone, or myself, and have gotten to know the wonderful owner Cindy. I love going in her store, there’s so much to look at, it smells yummy and she always has great music playing – it just makes you feel good. She has a great selection of goodies so it’s hard not to bring something home. They also just opened a baby/childrens section in the back of the store, Clementine. Stop by and take a peak!

the hungry caterpillar, I mean pregnant lady

April 12th, 2009

Today I began my day with a donut, topped it off with cupcake and in between had some pretzels, ham, 2 chicken salad sandwiches, oven-baked french toast, fruit salad, a piece of quiche, cheese and crackers, several jelly beans, quite a few Reeses peanut butter cups and a handful of TUMS. The book The Hungry Caterpillar just came to mind.

Over the weekend Conner said “dammit” and “what the f**k” and today told us he “saw Jesus” at church. Out of those 3 “expressions” I’m not sure which is the worst. Brendan and I embarrassingly died with laughter each time and have since begun to choose our vocabulary a little more carefully.

under construction

April 6th, 2009

If the header of my blog is looking a little funky, empty your cache. We are making a few minor improvements. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. One of my college roommates came to visit and we spent the day together in the city. We went to the musical, In The Heights which was so cool; I would highly recommend it. I loved the music – all Rap and Spanish. Deirdre is prego with her 3rd baby, me obviously with my 2nd, so we both waddled through the city together while catching up. Good times.
