la recap

March 30th, 2009

A few weeks ago we went to LA. My dad lives on the beach in Venice so every morning once we got up and had a large cup of coffee we would go for a walk on the beach. It was heaven. We also visited the Getty Museum, went to the zoo and drove to Malibu for breakfast. All 3 of Conner’s uncles joined us throughout our trip. I didn’t want to leave.

I feel like LA hasn’t been affected like NY, or maybe the sunshine keeps everyone in better moods. I returned and immediately got ANOTHER cold and sunk back into this mood of “whateverness.” I’m tired of hearing about the recession and I’m tired of work being slow. To keep my mind off things, I’m focusing on my quality time with Conner, knowing this freedom will come to an end once the baby arrives. I know I’ll look back and miss these slow days when it was just the two of us.

These both make me laugh. Nice shot of my belly on the left and the one on the right is classic.

Malibu

A few more from our last beach day. Conner got a kick out of running into the large groups of seagulls and watching them all fly away.

And our last night before dinner, a group shot of all the men in the fam. No wonder I’m having another boy.

less than 3 months before he arrives

March 25th, 2009

The baby’s room in being painted as I type this; it’s hard to believe he will be here in less than 3 months. We decided to go with a color called Sycamore Green, #539 by Benjamin Moore, after being inspired by this page in Domino.

I bought the Dots Dwell crib set in chocolate brown from my good friend Lisa at www.cocoacrayon.com. She sells a great selection of goodies, including all Dwell bedding.

I plan to spice things up with hints of a jungle animal theme and orange accents. I love these wallpaper silhouettes from Romp.

And add these giraffe sconces and orange mirror from Jonathan Adler and this jute rug from Pottery Barn and presto, ready for bambino.

I’ll post photos when the room is photo ready. We are moving Conner’s old furniture into the baby’s room next week. He is getting a big bed. Crazy. My office is nearly finished so those photos will make appearance too. I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today.

March 18th, 2009

We are back from LA and the man upstairs must have known I needed warm weather to return to, because that’s what he delivered. It’s in the sixties today, the sun is shining, my office window is open and I just turned off my music to listen to the soundtrack of Conner playing outside with our babysitter. That’s music to my ears.

Right before I left I photographed Austin and Scarlett for the I-lost-count-time. Their Papa was in town and unfortunately on the day of our shoot it was raining. We shot a few inside and then decided brave the rain. I’m glad we did because who can resist kids in rain gear and umbrellas?

vitamin D

March 10th, 2009

We are headed to where we can find some Vitamin D, California. Last week after our latest snowfall we decided it was time for a break so we’re off to Venice, CA to visit my dad, brother and brother-in-law and I can’t wait. I dont think I’ve been this starved for warm weather and a few rays since I was in college at Syracuse. I’ll be back next Monday, hopefully with a nice glow and a better attitude. In the meantime here is my latest newsletter which includes lots of goodies like Spring Mini Shoots, an Album Sale and the launch of my new Referral Program. Enjoy.

positive doing, etc.

March 5th, 2009

Not sure what happened, my two latest posts have now disappeared. So, here is a brief summary of both of them plus a couple other goodies.

My website has been updated with a few new pics and so forth.

Look for the latest newsletter to arrive in the next couple days. If you aren’t on the mailing list let me know and I’ll add you to the list. I am holding Spring Mini Shoots as well as offering discounts on photo shoots and print orders to those who refer me to friends, especially in Westchester County. I have also waived all travel fees.

In one of my vanished posts (so odd), I wrote about positive doing: what I’m doing to stay positive despite another snowfall to kick-off March and temps still in the teens and twenties. Some of which were:

Making Coq Au Vin from this simple recipe. I can’t drink as much red wine as I like so I’m cooking with it.

We watched Diner in honor of Mickey Rourke, who I so thought deserved the Oscar for The Wrestler.

And I had a lovely dinner with my 3 best friends from high school on Sunday at the Red Hat in Irvington. We all are living in a close vicinity again and get together about once every other month for dinner. As I drove home I thought about how little compares to the friendship I have with these ladies. The innocence, lack of fear, vast amount of hilarious moments and experiences, shedding of tears and 24-7 times we spent together over those 4 years bonded us in such a unique way. We can go months with out seeing each other but when we do it’s as if no time has passed and we pick up right where we left off. We are all so different yet so similar and I feel so lucky to still have them in my life. They shaped who I am today and I cherish that.

In the 2nd missing post I shared pics of Conner so here they are once again. A couple weekends ago we took him to the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. He loved it.
