home stuff
January 24th, 2008
Well we did it. We put our apartment on the market. After almost 10 years, we are leaving the city. It’s time, time to buy a house and I have to say I’m pretty excited about having more space. Even though I will miss NYC dearly, I’ve realized I’m a space person. I can’t wait to have more than about 1,000 sq. feet for me, Bren and Conner to hang in. I’m dreaming of back yards and bbqs, big kitchens and multiple closets. Im not sure where we are going, either NJ or Westchester. We’re house hunting so I’ll keep you posted. And to all of my NYC clients, dont worry, I wont be far. No more than 30 minutes or so, so I can still come in for shoots, shopping, PJ Clarks burgers, sushi, etc.
Anyways, here is where I’m buying some of our new furniture and accessories we will need to furnish our new house. Cool store I came across in Santa Monica. Just my style.
Isn’t She Lovely
January 24th, 2008
While I was proofing this job, the song Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder came to mind. I think because little Emily is just that, lovely. A few photos from her 2nd birthday… Thank you Jacqui. Great to see you!!
a long journey
January 22nd, 2008
Half of my family now lives in California, unfortunately. I say unfortunately only because I’m selfish, and would rather have them here, close to me. My dad and brother Chris are in Venice and Newport – great places to visit, which is exactly what we did this weekend. Chris has been on a long journey but I believe he has finally found his place. We had not seen each other in over two years so needless to say, it was an emotional weekend. Conner got to meet his Uncle Chris – something I’ve been dreaming of for awhile.
My other brother Ben, who lives in NYC, came out to visit as well. It was the first time we were all together since my wedding which was over 4 years ago. It has been a long journey to get to this point – one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. Chris – the words “I am so proud of you” aren’t nearly enough to describe what I think when I look at you. It was so hard to say good bye but I will see you in the Spring. Until then, our journey continues…
my favorite photo from the weekend

San Fran
January 18th, 2008
My husband and I are going to San Francisco for a little getaway over Valentine’s Day. We got engaged there over 5 years ago and I haven’t been back since, nor have we been back together! I’m very excited. I think we are going to stay at a boutique hotel in Union Square, The Prescott, but if anyone has any suggestions where we should eat, shop, etc. please leave them here. Thanks!
Chloe’s 1st
January 10th, 2008
Chloe turned one right before the holidays and I was lucky enough to photograph her adorable party. As we waited for her guests to arrive, we had a good time shooting quite a few pics. She later dressed in the traditional Korean clothes and blew out her candles. Her mom spent a great deal of time planning out all the details which were perfect. Thank you Ryu family. Hope to see you soon.
According to Time Out Kids

Posh Moms call Bentley Waters Photography. I hope all moms call me, but Posh Moms too! I was thrilled to see they included me in their January issue. They put together a “field guide” for NYC parents by basically stereotyping the many types of parents that live here and listing where they hang, shop, eat, drink and get their photos taken. ; ) What a great way to start off the year. Thanks Time Out!
There is a lot going on at Bentley Waters Photography this year. Several new things including:
A new website coming next month (February).
A new line of stationery. Most of you received the holiday card. That is just the beginning (I hope). I’ve partnered with my friend Bridget Richardson and designer to create some fun, unique and beautiful cards. We’re perfecting the printing as we speak.
Photo Canvases – photos printed and stretched on canvases.
Storyboards – digital collages, printed and mounted on foam core.
and I will be accepting credit cards very soon!
Stay tuned…
