lila

This shoot couldn’t be more appropriate to post on a day like today; it has finally stopped raining. The Beals were new clients, referred by another wonderful client of mine – Jennifer (thank you Jen ; ). They wanted to take advantage of a few of the gorgeous trees in Central Park, which I think we did. Lila’s dress was made for the the occasion. It couldn’t have matched more perfectly! Thank you Beals.

a warm welcome

October 24th, 2008

I have some of the best clients, one of them being Betty and her beautiful family. They welcomed me with a bloody marry and snacks. I mean, how can you have a bad shoot after a bloody marry and a little cheese and crackers? Not only was that nice but their boys are so sweet and so handsome, all 4 of them and possibly one more on the way. Time will tell. Can you imagine, 5 boys. It’s going to be Betty and the football team. Well, I guess it already it is. What a pleasure Betty. Oh and your parents are adorable. What an honor it was. Thank you!

We had a take a few of the boys’ lizard, he is new to the family. Isn’t it funny how all boys want a lizard at some point in their childhood.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I’ll be back next week with more shoots and hopefully a few of my family. I have loads of Conner photos to process. The guilt is sinking in.

friends

October 15th, 2008

I recently photographed two families in the same building. They are friends. For both shoots we used the same apartment and terrace, Milo’s apartment. His mom has referred me to many of her friends recently. THANK YOU! I love referrals because I get to know groups of friends. One of the many things about this job that I truly enjoy.

So here is the very active, imaginative and chatty Milo. I was blown away by his imagination and energy. Mom and I just sat and laughed at him. He is quite the character.

And now meet Milo’s new neighbors Copper and Carter. They are just 2 months old. Twins obviously. I could have photographed them all day. Those big blue eyes were mesmerizing and what’s better than one naked baby? Two! It was such a pleasure to meet you. Thank you.

MPD

July 14th, 2008

The meatpacking district is by far one of my favorite NYC neighborhoods to shoot in. The Ludwigs were all about exploring this area with me and were great models. The neighborhood changes every time I visit. We found lots of new backgrounds and props like this wall…

and these pigs…

I love all their expressions, especially Zachary’s.

she was the happiest little baby.

It was a great afternoon! Thank You.

miscellaneous

June 18th, 2008

I feel like I’ve had several things to write about but I haven’t had the time so I’m going to try to catch up…

Ever since I left the city I feel a little more clear headed. Maybe it’s because of all the fresh air or maybe it’s because of the quiet but I feel more present, if that makes sense. A lot has been going through my head lately because, well for one, a lot is happening in my life and two, I’ve made myself try to slow down this month. Moving from the city to the burbs is a pretty big change and we’re not even in our own house yet. It’s weird to think that only 30 or so miles can make such a big difference.

So, it was Father’s Day this past weekend. I meant to post on Sunday but I didn’t get around to it. We spent the day with my brother and sister-in-law, grilling and just hanging out. Unfortunately my dad lives in LA so we weren’t together but Chris (my brother) was with him, and that makes me happy to know they were together. Anyways, I didn’t even take any photos (shame on me) but I did think a lot about “fatherhood” and what it means to be a father. When I say that word I think of the father Brendan is to Conner and the father my dad has been to me. They are both the bend-over-backwards to put your children first kind of dads. I cant think of a time when my dad wasn’t there supporting, motivating, encouraging, rooting, caring, guiding, teaching, showing, loving, listening to and patiently waiting for me. I know in 32 years Conner will be able to look back and feel the same exact way about Brendan. My dad and him are alike in many wonderful ways. It’s funny how women often marry men who are similar to their fathers. My husband and my dad are two of the most important people in my life. So to you both, Happy Father’s Day (3 days late!). I love you.

On another note, I have to share my latest music obsession.

And my latest blog obsession: Confessions of a Pioneer Woman. I mean this beautiful blog has it all. Good recipes, writing and of course photography.

I LOVE this site. Not only do they have a cool shop, but every few months they publish an online photography magazine. If you are a photographer, I highly recommend purchasing it. It is VERY inspiring and motivating. Full of ideas. My favorite section is the studio/workspace or storefront they highlight in each publication. It’s easy, just purchase through paypal and download.

pink ink studios

November 26th, 2007

I’m featured on the Pink Ink Studios blog this week. A great website for photographers to buy tools and to find inspiration. Every couple weeks they interview a different photographer. Thanks to the ladies at Pink Ink.

cool books

September 7th, 2007

I came across these recently and thought I would share. A unique idea (and pretty inexpensive I might add) for gifts. Before you know it, holidays will be here. They are even a good idea for a birthday.
